The wisdom of Being In Pain
The bone underneath the wisdom tooth got infected. All weekend I was in horrendous pain, but I clamped up (literally) and dealt with it because I thought it was just “normal” after effects of the surgery. Last night, I got up repeatedly to deep throbbing pain and thought to myself something must be wrong.
A visit to the dentist this morning revealed that the clot underneath the gum had not formed properly and was infected. Apparently deep throbbing pain is classic indicator of infection. The doctor undid the stiches in the gum, opened up the gum, scrapped off the infected clots in the bone socket (which was bloody painful despite being on anesthetic), sewed it back and promised all should be better tomorrow.
Time to sleep off the pain. Laters.
