Streamyx Sucks.

Saturday afternoon saw an incredible slow Internet connection. Running:
ping -A -c 10000 -i 0.5 202.188.0.133
indicated seriously evil 25% packet droppage somewhere between the DSL modem and the remote StreamyX gateway. Called up TMnet’s tech support and after they kept insisting to type in ipconfig /dnsflush whilst blitely ignoring the fact that it’s not a damn DNS issue! I decided time in this life can be better spent elsewhere, found some WiFi connection and piggy hopped on it for a while. Come evening time, I went over to Aizat’s house to double check the DSL modem and as is to be expected from Taiwanese hardware, all was fine and dandy.
Hmmm.
Later on Saturday night and package droppage was at 17%.
Come Sunday morning, package droppage was at 10%.
Sunday evening (i.e. now), package droppage is at 5%. I wonder what tomorrow’s dawn will bring.
For now, I’ll be happily hosting a banner from StreamyxSucks.com till the issue gets resolved. And I seriously pity the call center agent picking up my call tomorrow morning if all is not well.
