Tales of Alvin Maker
Whilst working on getting Asterisk working with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 (with SIP TCP patch and a minor chap_sip.c patch, it went well enough), I ended up reading the entire Tales of Alvin Maker (excellent Orson Scott Card series on an alternate America in the early 19th century) at the rate of a book a day. I can’t seem to find Crystal City though. Here are the reviews (and yes, the book covers looks quite Mills and Boon-ish):
1. Seventh Son
Review: Slow start, despite occasional brilliance, almost gave up reading rest of the books.
2. Red Prophet

Review: Orson Scott Card’s literary brilliance sparkles brightly here, Red Prophet being on par with the most excellent Speaker for the Dead. Apparently, it was nominated for the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1988, and the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1989.

Review: Prentice Alvin sets the framework for the books next in the series

Review: Excellent story and character development.
5. Heartfire

Review: Peggy Torch, Calvin become substantially major characters of their own, apparently Tales of Alvin Maker ain’t only about Alvin.
