Upgraded Fedora Core 6 boxen to Fedora 8

I updated cassini.gathani.org to Fedora Core 8 from Fedora Core 6. It took the better half of the afternoon, thanks to yours truly having used some non-Fedora repositories.

Seems to be working now, with over 400 packages needing an update post installation. I notice a suspicious lag in rendering of GTK windows which clearly needs more debugging to determine the source of the problems.

Good news is the updated set of software (OpenOffice 2.3, Evolution 2.12, Ekiga 2.0 and so on), which means (hopefully) less buggy software (in particular, Ekiga’s misuse of threads really pissed me off).

Bad news is the slower rendering.
