The Malaysian Twitter SMS Gateway

So, it’s been a while since I blogged. Good reason for that: I’ve discovered Twitter, that addictive micro-blogging tool which packs a punch in its insistence on brevity. Now, as cool as Twitter is, there is one sucky aspect to it: sending an SMS to Twitter’s international SMS number works out to be bloody expensive: RM 0.50/sms times 10 updates/day gets to be quite ghey!

Enter the Malaysian Twitter SMS gateway , a local number to which you can send your twits to and have them be published immediately. Clearly useful for the frequent twitter-ers, and definitely a must-have if you happen see a car go up in flames in Bangsar and need to twit “OMFG there’s a car on fire in Bangsar!!!” immediately. (Note: this actually did happen). The gateway is sponsored by your local friendly Open Source consulting company: Interunix “Love-Tank-Included” Networking Solutions. Oh, and it was written up by no other then yours truly.

Here’s how you go about twitting cheaply through SMS:

Enjoy!
