Cambodia, Day 2

Today started by yours truly oversleeping. I was just so tired that I needed the sleep. Got up at 9am, had some breakfast and I was off to Tuol Sleng. Tuol Sleng is a school converted into an interrogation and torture location during the Pol Pot regime. Rather horrible, I must say. Torture is not my cup of tea, and seeing pictures of tortured prisoners wasn’t a pleasant experience.

Next off was to Mekong Island, which is an island in the middle of Mekong River. Nabil got us to take some orphan kids with HIV for some fun at the island, and we had fun. We were Happy (note the capital H). Evening time, we retired for some dinner, conversations with Cristine and Ashley (couchsurfers with Nabil) over some beer and wine.

Cambodia is seductive. The people are cheerful and simple, the company here is good and availability of Happiness is easy (note the capital H). I can imagine myself sitting here and hacking on Free Software for several months and really enjoying life.

Anyway, tomorrow it’s off to the Killing Fields so more updates tomorrow.
