Barisan National suffers worst defeat ever
It’s 2 am and the counting is ongoing but one thing is clear to me: the Barison National has suffered its worst ever defeat in the electoral polls. The opposition has gained control of Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Selangor and possibly Perak and Wilayah Perseketuan. We may see Badawi resigning in the near future, paving way for Nagib to take over. Think about this: Barisan National’s best every win was under Badawi and their worst ever loss was under Badawi … all within the space of three years. What does this say about Badawi’s political legacy?
Gerakan has only won 3 seats to date, a shocking display of weakness. I am actually sad, Gerakan was one of the more legit parties within Barisan National. UMNO is still going strong and leading the pack with the most seats won. Make what you will of that.
Good to see Jeff Ooi, Malaysia’s most prominent blogger, winning a seat. We can look forward to more sensible IT related laws now.
