I (that would be Ditesh Gathani) have been developing for the web for the last 15 years, and have built multiple process and content-driven enterprise web applications for many verticals including content creation, venture capital, telecommunications and social networking industries.
That’s right, I am a geek. I write code. I read up on algorithmic analysis. I figure out ways to make sites load fast, and then I spend time to figure out ways to make it even faster. I build and optimize sensible processes at work, automate tedious processes and eliminate the need for silly work. I believe in the primacy of efficiency.
I spend time chasing down facts (it’s true – there is nothing more elusive then a fact) and getting the details right. Call me obsessive or compulsive or unrelenting – they may be apt descriptions for life has taught me the importance of getting things right. One does not build the Pantheon half-heartedly – one has to get the details absolutely right.
I have given many talks locally and regionally, as well as trained technical teams on web technology as well as open source. I strongly believe that we are still in the infancy of what the web can offer, and am excited by the possibilities offered by widespread adoption of web standards.
I currently serve as a member of the Malaysian National Computer Confederation and was previously the co-winner of the Malaysian Open Source Award in 2005. I have a Masters in Computer Science and am a member of the FreeBSD additional contributors team.
Oh, on an aside, I love the word terraqueous:
